Below is a Transformation Game that will help you open your heart and make friends with the animal, plant or nature spirit helpers in Gifts from the Rainforest.

Welcome to the I Ching Reading and Transformation Game for Hexagram # 59 – Reuniting with Nature.

How can you open your heart to creative, new ideas when the heart of humanity is struggling to find a new way?

When we are in the midst of danger, what can be done to reunify us with our “better angels?”

The first thing to consider is what direction are you, personally, heading?

Are you in any kind of danger?

Are you going for revenge and retribution?

Are you immersed in self-pity, self-sabotage or cynicism?

Or, are you willing to look beyond the chaos and open your heart to a more equitable and balanced future?

“Within the Self, the time of REUNITING is directly connected to your spiritual development. You should now renew your inner faith, in whatever way that has meaning for you… Look for the symbols, rhythms, and patterns that have inspired humanity for all times, and incorporate them into your work. Developing a relationship with any of the Helpers in Gifts from the Rainforest is a process that takes time, trust and a sincere intention to ask for and receive their guidance or medicine.

Each Helper has its own medicine, which is explained in the poem and “Further Explanation” sections of the manual. One Helper might have medicine for dealing with difficult people (for example, Parrot #18), while another might help you to focus better, such as Praying Mantis, #6.

The Helpers are like new friends that can really assist you if you’re willing to slow down, open your heart and get to know them. This game will help you to create a healing relationship with whatever Helper you want to get to know next.

Begin by going to Old Sol #49 and reading its message.

Through this Circle, symbolized by the Sun, you can connect with your Higher Self. All the other Circles in this book can only work through your Higher Self or Soul to avoid false guidance.

You will be using “Old Sol” to tell you which Helper would be good to get to know next. You can also use it to confirm guidance that you get or formulate questions and intentions that are important to you.

The next step is to gaze softly at the Circle itself and take several relaxing breaths. It doesn’t really matter what part of the image you’re looking at and it isn’t necessary to figure out what the lines or circles mean. If you find yourself criticizing or doubting yourself, that is your ego trying to interfere with your clear guidance. Just ignore it and bring your attention in to open your heart.

Now it’s time to ask the question. Look at the Circle and ask your heart:

“Is there an issue or situation that I could use some guidance with right now?”

Old Sol

Answers may come in the form of words, a symbol, an impression or a feeling. What ever comes to you, write it down, even if it doesn’t seem to make sense at first. Also, it’s important to take the very first answer that comes to you, otherwise, it’s not your intuition.

For best results playing a Transformation Game, look at each Circle both crossed over the midline of the body and uncrossed so that the correction is more complete.

If your mind goes blank, go here to clear the blockage.

Once you have an issue, ask Old Sol for a number between one and forty-nine and take the very first number that comes to you. The number you come up with is the number of the Helper and Circle that would be most helpful to you right now. Write the number down, go to that Helper and read about its medicine. Notice if there are any messages that stick out to you.

Next, gaze softly at the Circle (both crossed and uncrossed) and relax. Breathe deeply a few times. Imagine your mind can gather up all the unconscious information it has about this medicine. Now you’re ready to go through the series of Circles in the first section of the game.

Section One: Open Your Heart and Clear Obstacles to Communication

1. Sun #49: To facilitate your connection with your spiritual guidance, keep breathing and gaze with soft eyes at Old Sol while you repeat each affirmation:

“In accordance with my highest good…

Old Soul

… I release all karma or intentions that prevent me from connecting with my Higher Self through my heart.”

“I release all karma or intentions that prevent me from connecting with the _________ Helper I have chosen.”

“I release all intentions based on ignorance or harm that would block clear communication.”


2. Seed #37: Pretend this Circle is like a communication device; you ask it a question and an answer comes back to you in the form of words, an image, a feeling or a symbol.

This is how you can use the Circles and their Helpers to communicate intuitively with your Soul or Higher Self. Try it out by asking the Seed Helper:

“What is preventing me from following the true guidance of the __________ Helper?”

Make a note of your answers. At this point the answer(s) may or may not make sense to you yet, so just write them down and continue.


3. Alligator #3: Now it’s time to uncover whatever thought processes, emotions or behaviors that are blocking your connection. Look into the Intuitive Learning Circle for Alligator and ask the following questions one at a time:

“Can I tell what’s blocking me?”

“Is the blockage a behavior? A habit? An attitude?”

“Is it emotional?”

“Is it conceptual?”

“Is it an attachment?”

“Is there more than one thing blocking me? If so, what are they?”

“Am I perceiving this situation correctly and truthfully?”

4. Snake #7: Read the messages that come from the Snake Helper, and then look at its Circle. What sticks out in your mind? Is there any part of it that catches your attention? If so, write it down because that phrase or idea has important information that could help you understand more about what’s blocking you.


Once you’ve done that, look at the Circle and ask your heart:

“How would my life be better if I were friends with the ________ Helper I have chosen?”

Again, write your answer down.

5. Raccoon #11: Many of the Circles work with the nervous system to help you release negative, unproductive agreements and harmful obligations that you might still be reacting to even though you aren’t consciously aware of them. Raccoon is the primary animal totem that handles Soul contracts.

What is a Soul contract? Soul contracts deal with lessons you have agreed to experience on a Soul level so that you can experience who you are more deeply. If a person has completed the lesson, they can move on to other experiences. However, the nervous system will keep repeating the lesson until the person has consciously released the contract and integrated the lesson into their consciousness.

Many times, the ego resists completing the lesson and letting the contract go. Why? Because the ego likes to remain in control through drama, pain, suffering and codependency.

The Raccoon Helper is very powerful because its medicine can bypass the ego and go directly to the nervous system and release completed contracts. Look at the Raccoon Circle and go through this list of potential agreements that might get in the way of clear and honest communication:

A. “I release all agreements, contracts, allegiances, obligations or vows that prevent me from communicating clearly with my Higher Self.”

B. “I release all agreements, contracts, allegiances, obligations or vows that prevent me from communicating clearly with the true spirit of the __________ Helper.”

C. “I release all agreements with lies or false guidance.”

D. “I release all agreements, contracts, allegiances, obligations or vows that prevent me from benefiting from and utilizing the medicine of the _______ Helper.”

“My Soul is in charge and I make friends with this Helper.”

Releasing contracts and agreements of this kind significantly loosens the grip that the ego has on your mind and body. Energy can begin to move differently for you now and negative patterns are more easily changed to benefit you.

Extra Help from The Essential Human

The Essential Human* If you have a copy of The Essential Human, now would be a good time to use Future Pacing on page 140 to help you project a preferred relationship with this Helper out into the future. Choose new ingredients from The Essential Human #1 – 42. Use this affirmation:

“I release harmful ingredients and access beneficial ingredients. I am friends with this Helper.”

Congratulations! Going through the first section of this game has helped you to identify and release the ideas, behaviors and beliefs that are getting in the way of good guidance that comes from your true nature. Now is a good time to go for a walk or get out into Nature so you can integrate what you’ve learned.

How To Access Common Sense

This Mind Exercise is about how to access common sense. 

How to Access Common SenseLet’s start with some words about common sense* that I like to remember:

Common Sense is good sense and judgement based on verifiable experience or repeated observation of the facts, not just because someone said so. When someone says, “something is so, because I say it is,” that is not common sense.

When a person’s common sense is out of balance, they’re more interested in looking good than anything else. They have poor boundaries and are more concerned about how they are being perceived than they are with facts. The thought process is externally driven (peer pressure), not internally developed and checked against the facts.

If a person accepts a judgement as truth from a second or third party without any personal verification, it’s actually an assumed agreement or conditioning. Learning without verification can be very dangerous. An example of this would be prejudice against someone you have never met. Someone told you this person, group or activity is untrustworthy. It may be true or it may not. Without verifiable evidence, common sense is lacking.

What can be done about common sense that’s out of balance?

A good place to start is to access your senses. Everyone has a “blind spot.” For some reason, we’ve been conditioned to turn a blind eye to certain things. See if you can remedy some of that by gazing softly at this Reiki Chakra Key, together with these positive affirmations:

“I reclaim and balance my five senses.”

“I use them to be present and make sense of my current conditions and environment.”

“I use them to become aware of helpful resources, solutions and opportunities.”

“I focus on behavior that supports good common sense and integrity.”


Next, release your agreement with any unverifiable prejudices. These may have been planted deeply in your unconscious mind by your family, religion and society, even your dearest friends. Oh, and be sure to include the media!

Use this Intuitive Learning Circle™ to help you find unconscious prejudices in your mind and uproot them:

“I unearth unverified assumptions, prejudices or agreements that prevent me from having good, common sense.”

“I uproot the resistance I have to verify the facts and question what I’ve been conditioned to believe.”

“I uproot the need for approval and the belief that I have to agree with what I’m told in order to survive.”

What else would you like to uproot?

To teach genuine common sense, a good teacher shows by example or demonstration. True common sense can prevent fascism, slavery and abuse. It instills personal integrity, plus things just work better when they make sense.

To have your own experience with how to access common sense, let’s go through this simple series of Intuitive Learning Circles™. They’ve been put together to help you relax, contemplate the nature of common sense and integrate the information.

All you have to do is read the instructions and then follow through on the directions while you gaze softly at each Circle.

mind Body IntegrationAn important note ~ 

The brain and body communicate through different channels when a part of you is crossed over the center of your body. If you feel resistant or stuck, cross or uncross a hand or foot over the midline of your body and go back to the Circle, breathing patiently. See if your thinking starts to move again. Let negative self-talk go by breathing through it.

How to Access Common Sense

Common Sense and the Third Eye ChakraStep One: Gaining insight through common sense works with having good intuition. Allow the Reiki Chakra Key below to open and balance your Third Eye energy center. The affirmations will help you focus your intention:

“I balance my inner vision with good common sense. I free my mind to focus on inspiration that makes the most sense in this situation – based on verifiable evidence.” 

Step Two: Slow down. Both intuition and common sense are more accessible when you’re not in a hurry or trying to do too many things.

“I slow down and pay attention to what’s happening now.”

It will help to imagine you can bring all the energy into focus on the center, open space of each Intuitive Learning Circle™.

Step Three: You might sense a blockage or your mind may go blank. That’s okay. Let this Circle soften your rigid thoughts. Allow them to melt, move and dissolve away. Do this both crossed and uncrossed until the blockage is cleared.

Now, without censoring yourself, what would you like to do?

Feel free to move around or take a walk to get in some steps. Using the body helps your mind to integrate new ideas!

Step Four: Let your senses get balanced. Some may be turned up too high and some too low. You can imagine them like a ring of lights orbiting around your waist, casting light and awareness on the world around you.

Adjust them like a radio dial until the level feels just right.

Be sure that your lights are focused on sensing joy – not on what someone else wants you to pay attention to!

Step Five: Surround those lights with a ring of protection and strength.

“I am safe and protected. I have the courage to change my perspective.”

Step Six: Resonate with the power of your Soul to separate yourself from lies, confusion and manipulations.

Consciously “unplug” from lies and manipulations at your solar plexus and then plug into truth.

Be sure to do that while looking at this Circle both crossed and uncrossed!

Step Seven: In this quieter, clearer mind space, think of a decision you are unclear about and would like to apply some common sense to – something that isn’t making sense to you right now.

Or you can ask: “What makes sense to do next?” If you are unclear, this would be a perfect situation to experiment with.

Step Eight: Continue your inquiry,  “How can I put it all together so that it makes sense?” Bring your thoughts in toward the center, blank space. This could take some time. Listen for the answer. What is your inner guidance?

Intuition combined with common sense is often simpler and more straightforward than most people are comfortable with. Let go of the three C’s – complication, convolution and conspiracy. Be patient and let your mind sift through the possibilities.

Step Nine: Balance your senses again and ask yourself:

“What makes the most sense?”

Once you get a heartfelt answer, Congratulations! Be sure to write down what you came up with. The critical mind often doesn’t like to remember the quieter, gentler vision of intuition combine with common sense.

The following extra-intuitive activities aren’t required, but they can help you excel in creating the very best of your talents, interests and passions…

Improving Brain Chemistry for Better Common Sense

We are more likely to make good sense of things when our brains have a balanced chemistry. Chakra healing can help. Let’s see what happens when we allow the chakras of important parts of our brains to let go of toxic chemicals that might be impairing our thinking and how we access common sense.

Gaze softly at the Essential Chakra Key with this intention:

“Accurate messages are transferred between my brain and spinal cord.”

Next, gaze at this Chakra Key with the intention:

“My left and right brain communicate accurately with each other.”

Sometimes we have “the sense knocked out of us” physically. Trauma like that can affect all kinds of thought processes.

“My focus, balance and stability are in place.”

Use this Circle to help you appropriately reconnect any chakras that have disconnected due to accident, injury or violence.

“My communication lines are connected.”

“I make sense of things.”

“Reliable communication has resumed throughout my nervous system.”

Some parts of your brain can anticipate pain and overreact with highly charged emotional responses. Allow them to gently release and let go with this intention:

“I am safe and calm. All is well.”


Go back to Step Seven at the beginning of this exercise and review the decision you were considering.

“What makes good sense to do next?”


Imagine that you can release any negative karmic patterns you may have around peer pressure or needing to look good. Send any chaos or confusion up to the Sun.

Next, access your beneficial karma for having good common sense. Gather your good deeds into the center, blank area of this Circle.

“I access my beneficial karma for actualizing good and balanced common sense.”

The mind intuitively appreciates closure. Let’s get grounded as we complete this mind exercise.

Place both feet on the floor and put your hands on your knees if you can. Gaze softly at the Circle and repeat the affirmation until you feel your body has fully settled in the present.

“I am grounded in the present.”

“I ground common sense in the New Paradigm.”

Ask yourself:

“How does it feel to access good common sense, based on verifiable experience or repeated observation of the facts?”


You can thank yourself for taking the time today to learn how to access common sense and good judgement – a gift that will make your life a whole lot better!

Bring the energy of gratitude and appreciation in towards you in the center.

Closure for Mind Body HealingFinish it all up now by sealing and healing any pathways or holes that lead back to old harmful patterns or suffering.
