Stabilize During A Shocking Event

This self-care formula uses the Intuitive Learning Circle method for relief during extreme weather crisis or other shocking events.  

SOS- Resolving Shock from Traumatic EventsThe following SOS self-care formula is a form of self-hypnosis combined with energy healing that has been used for resolving shock, enhancing inner guidance and facilitating positive change since 2001. This particular formula has been updated for 2026 and offers a gentle way to process ongoing difficult experiences, manage emotional stress, find new communication lines and positive ways to respond to unexpected, extreme and shocking events.

When you’re living through a shocking event, you’re probably in the middle of some kind of fight or flight response… and that’s natural.

If you are:

~ Living through a shocking event
~ Dealing with an environmental disaster or its aftermath
~ Feeling scattered, confused, scared or vulnerable
~ Exposed to repeated emergency situations
~ Witnessing traumatic experiences

You may be having trouble with comprehension and thinking or planning clearly. 

Any person who’s going through extreme weather related events or a crisis in their environment can experience disorientation, numbness, mental confusion or fragmentation. Even people who are witness to traumatic experiences can get caught up in the energy of the event. That includes family members, caregivers, friends, therapists, clergy and other emergency responders.

The shock response is natural and not a sign of spiritual, mental or emotional weakness. It’s an important way that the mind protects itself. Nevertheless, if a person who’s going through a shocking event doesn’t get a chance to relax and separate from the experience – or if they’re not able to – serious problems can develop, including ongoing symptoms of ptsd including nightmares, flashbacks and a chronic fear of the future.

Scattered energy and a constant state of fight or flight takes its toll over time. Statements like: “I can’t think of anything positive,” “My life was shattered,”  “I feel so drained” or “I just don’t know what to do,” describe the experience of ongoing, unresolved shock. Alternately, a person may put on a false front of cheerfulness and optimism, only to have their health suffer seriously later.

If any of the above seems familiar, you can go through this formula to help you stabilize your mind and access your own innate healing abilities. Simply follow the directions step by step so you can monitor your energy and take the steps you need to move forward safely.


Mind Body IntegrationMind Body Integration

The brain and body communicate through different channels when a part of you is crossed over the center of your body. As you go through the steps, cross and uncross a hand or foot over the midline of your body when you gaze at each Circle. Use a soft focus and breathe patiently. This will help you integrate your thinking more fully so that you can be more creative. If you have any negative self-talk, let it go by breathing through it.

Feel free to move at anytime in any way to help you embody your experience!


Stabilize During a Shocking Event

Step One:

Take some breaths and relax so that you can release shock, fixations and inner conflict. Breathe in and exhale on a long “ah” breath several times.

Imagine you can use the Circle to focus in on a shocking or painful experience that’s blocking your way. If your mind is blank, focus on how “blank” it is. You may get a conscious image or message, or you may not.

Once you have a sense that your mind has found the blockage, visualize it like an iceberg and the Sun is melting it away with a beautiful beam of light.
Allow it to melt until it’s completely gone.

If you like to smudge yourself, this would be a good time to do it.
Check for other blockages, worries or conflicts that you can do the same with.

 

Step Two:

The environment is changing and you need to protect yourself.
Use Divine Protection to help you connect with and integrate generative channels of life energy. It helps to visualize the lines coming together and connecting with the center spoke of the wheel.

Take all the time you need to feel strong, positive energy flowing through you.

Feel free to integrate Divine Protection into any remaining corrections to help you to stabilize in whatever way is necessary.

 

Step Three:

In situations like this, there’s so many things going on and you don’t want to scatter. Your mind may have too many windows open – like on a computer screen.

Let this Circle help you close the tabs in your mind to help you feel better and more contained.

Be sure to integrate with Divine Protection to make sure you get them all.

 

Step Four:

In emergencies, it’s important to stay hydrated. Make sure you’re drinking plenty of fresh water. If you swish it around in your mouth before you swallow, the water will go where it needs to go faster and more efficiently.

Water is your good friend. Especially now!

 

Step Five:

Consider all that’s going on in your life. A lot is changing.
Use this Circle to gently contemplate the situation so you can slow down and gather up your mental, emotional, spiritual and physical resources.

What is the most important thing for you to keep in mind?

If you notice more shock coming up to the surface, go back up to Step 1 and repeat the process of melting away the tension until it’s completely gone.
Then, come back down through the sequence until you get back here.

If you’re ready to move on, continue to Step 6.

 

Step Six:

Your senses may have gotten knocked out of balance. Reconnect with them and focus on being present. Use them to become aware of your body and what you need right now.

Re-orient yourself in your environment, as it is now.

Take whatever time you need focus on actions that will bring you back into balance and benefit your well-being.
You may want to write ideas down because it’s easy to forget.

 

Step Seven:

When going through traumatic events, everyone has a tendency to grip and hold on. Yet, gripping and tension interferes with our ability to do the most important thing that we need to remember, which is to keep breathing! 

Slow down and consciously bring oxygen and relaxation into your lungs and body.

Emotional Calm

Breathe deeply with this Chart and imagine the space around you is actually relaxing and softening.
You’re feeling better with every breath you take.
Stretch or move around in any way that you instinctively feel you need.

 

Step Eight:

Your energy probably needs some balancing. Go through this short sequence to make repairs and get back in order:

A) Get help clearing your energy field of toxins. Use this Detachment Key to relax and mend any energetic wounds that are associated with smoke, chemicals or other harmful energies.

Like a healing balm, imagine that a loving coat of peace and comfort is pouring down over you.

 

Step Nine:

When a person is under extreme stress, their energy can become blocked, scattered, reversed or even shut down completely.

B) Let this Correction Key help you repair any glitches, holes or jagged energies in your system.

Keep relaxing with it until the energy smooths out and you begin to sense the calming energy of your Soul coming through.

 

Step Ten:

Bring your attention to your own heart center. Imagine you can connect with your Source and activate the Light that lives within you.
You are never alone.

If you’re a Reiki practitioner, this is an excellent time to fill yourself with Reiki. 

 

Step Eleven:

Now it’s time to turn down the volume on all the noise from outside. As you breathe deeply, let this Circle help you to adjust the volume and pitch of your senses to just the right level. Use Divine Protection if you need to.

Not too high and not too low – just right.

Soon you’ll be able to hear that calm, gentle voice inside that reminds you about what matters the most to you.

Let yourself be sad if you need to be. Tears are a sign of letting go of shock.

 

Step Twelve:

It also helps to open and close your hands to get more present. Move your fingers and wiggle your toes around. Notice the time and where you are. These actions are all helpful whenever you want to stabilize during a shocking situation. 

 

Step Thirteen:

Now you can let your heart recover. This Key helps you balance your heart energy and clear away any residual heaviness.
Breathe deeply and take your time.
Feel any heaviness lifting up and out of your heart.

Integrate it with Divine Protection  and let it radiate out like a Light until you feel transformed.

 

Step Fourteen:

Oftentimes, going through a shocking event requires a change in priorities. There may be certain plans, ideas or thoughts that take you back into your traumatizing event. You can use this symbol for dissolving destructive blueprints to help you identify them and dissolve whatever is distressing you.

You don’t have to keep going back there. Simply imagine that the negative patterns in your mind are like dark clouds or a tangled maze of confusion.

Surrender the darkness into the pure light of the Sun and let the maze dissolve completely.

You’ll know that you’re done when your mind feels clear enough to imagine standing in a beautiful field with the Sun shining down upon you.

Please note: It’s time to stop sending destructive energies into the Earth, she already has too much to handle now. Use the Earth for planting seeds of happiness and life – not death!

 

Step Fifteen:

Before you finish with this formula, take a minute to close up those tabs again. Seal and heal any holes, leaks or passageways that have opened up during this process.

Closure for Mind Body Healing

Do that both crossed and uncrossed over the midline of your body.
Your mind and heart needs closure.

 

Step Sixteen:

Finally, your auras are an essential part of having good health. When they’re strong and focused, they can repel toxicity and keep your personal energy more protected.
During a traumatic event, it’s very likely that rips and tears have come open, impairing your energy levels and ability to keep good boundaries.

To prevent collapse, relax with this Soul Prayer Chart for as long as you need to repair and refocus your auric field.
Intend to keep them close to your body because clear and focused auras provide increased protection and stability.

Clearing An Overwhelmed Mind

If you need help clearing an overwhelmed mind, the Intuitive Learning Circle method offers quick and easy support.

Clearing an Overwhelmed MindThis self-care formula is as useful for handling larger traumas as it is day to day stresses. Use it when you’re feeling:

  • Exhausted, overwhelmed or confused
  • Scattered or pressured
  • Out of balance
  • Taking on too much
  • Doing too much
  • Going too fast and need to slow down
  • Internalizing the stress and pain of those around you.

You are not alone and you can easily get some relief by going through the Overwhelm Help Exercise #4 out of Navigating Loss and Compassion Fatigue from our Soul Oriented Solutions series.

Directions: Confirm this is the best formula for you with the SOS Symbol.

SOS SymbolFind a quiet place if possible, where you won’t be disturbed for about twenty – thirty minutes. Begin by reading the first message and then gaze gently at the Circle or chart that goes with it for approximately two minutes. A longer or shorter time may be necessary. Let yourself breathe and relax as much as possible. Don’t worry if the images seem to move around or change in any way. That just means the Circles are working with the positive affirmations to bring your mind and body back into balance.

Some emotions might come up as well. That also means the Circles are working. If you’re being hard on yourself or afraid you aren’t “doing it right,” give yourself permission to continue relaxing and let go of anything that’s causing you pain or discomfort. You could be releasing a mindset that’s caused you quite a bit of suffering for some time now. Resolve to patiently keep breathing and let it go.

Feel free to move at anytime in any way to help you embody your experience!

If someone is with you, talk to them about some of the feelings that you’re having. It could help you to gain perspective on your situation. Having perspective allows you to make the best decisions about what will help you now.

After you’ve finished going through the entire formula, let yourself rest for a little while. You’re doing very well with such a difficult circumstance. Be sure to take things one at a time.

Clearing an Overwhelmed Mind ~

Presence

1. Gaze softly at the Circle and take a few moments to breathe deeply.
Pay special attention to those places in your body where you’re feeling pain or discomfort.
Just let them relax.
Move around or stretch if you need to.

 

Receiving

2. Ask for peace and healing to come into your body.
See if you can move your energy out of your head and pull it down into your center in the heart and solar plexus area.

Relax and receive the benefits of slowing down and taking some time for yourself for a few minutes.

Once you feel calmer, gently bring to mind what you were wanting to do.

 

Centering

3. You may need some more time to get your bearings.
Being centered in the present is a big part of being okay.
Let your energy get connected in your center solar plexus area.

When you’re ready, notice what’s to the right of you and to the left of you.
What is your relationship to the Earth below and the sky above?

 

Balance

4. You don’t need to be perfect or be everything to everyone.
Are you expecting too much of yourself? If so, give yourself a break and let it go.
You can stop sending your energy in so many directions.

What really matters in this situation? What’s most important to you?

 

Release

5. You may feel like you’re stuck or being pulled in the wrong direction.
Relax and meditate on this Correction Key for as long as you like.
Imagine that a loving coat of peace and comfort is pouring down over you – gently releasing you from all that dark, chaotic energy.

You can gently heal the wounds of the past.

 

CHANGE

6. You’re ready and able to let go and make the changes necessary for you now. Are you willing to let go and release obligations that are causing you harm?

Release any agreements to hold onto things that aren’t working.
See them like old contracts burning up in a Violet Flame.

What a relief that is.

 

Nourishment

7. Once you’ve recovered, go back to your center and listen to your heart beating – nice and steady.
It’s okay to ask for help. You are alive and need to take good care of yourself.

What would help you do that?
Make a list so you can remember.

 

Hope

8. Take a moment and let your body and mind connect with Hope.
True Hope is an expression of Universal Love that reunites you with your Soul.
Feel the Hope and connection with your Soul returning to you.

 

Reunion

9. Gaze gently at the Circle while you think about something or someone that you love very much. Relax and let go of any pressures you put on yourself.

Maybe you just needed to take some time so you can get back in touch with what really matters.
Take all the time you like. It’s okay to let go of tension and feel the love returning to you.

 

Compassion

10.  It’s much easier to focus your energy on taking good care of yourself now.
Your resources and natural instincts are returning and reorganizing around what you need in the present. Your sense of direction, protection and motivation is intact.
You’re learning that your choices matter.
You are important and other people care about you.

 

Clarity

11. Now it’s time to sweep the clutter and darkness out of your mind.
Send it to the Light.
Sweep it all up and away. Then shut the doors on scary places that overwhelm you.

Notice how much better your body feels when your mind is clear.

 

Closure

12. Close the pathways that lead back to exhaustion and overwhelm, like too many open tabs on a computer.
Seal and heal all the holes and leaks wherever they may be.

Closing pathways of suffering between you and others will help everyone feel much better.

 

Protection

13. Relax with this Chart and ask for continued protection as you move forward.
You are protected and positive life force is flowing through your body and mind.

Life affirming communication lines are coming together to help and strengthen you.
