Intuitive Reading from the I Ching or Book of Change: Challenged by Obstacles.
In this intuitive reading, Soul Resources offers a variety of SOS formulas and Transformation Games using the Intuitive Learning Circles and the I Ching to offer constructive advice when we’re challenged by OBSTACLES.
The I Ching
The original intent of the I Ching was based on an Eastern philosophy of observation and marking changes in natural and human events. Through many centuries and contributions from shamans and master teachers, including Lau Tzu and Confucius, the Book of Change was developed into a full philosophy for applying beneficial human conduct to varying circumstances. The Art of Feng Shui is part of that philosophy. We use The I Ching Workbook, by R.L. Wing, Random House, NYC, NY, 1979 as our preferred translation.
The I Ching Energy ~
Throughout much of late spring and summer, the I Ching energy flow for the United States was in a general state of DANGER, Hexagram #29. Then, on July 21st, the full moon ushered in a surprisingly active flow pattern of CHANGING (Hexagram #49) that opened up a series of unexpected opportunities and positive energy to make significant advances towards freedom.
Now, the energy has gone through a series of CONTRADICTIONS and moved into the flow of #39 OBSTACLES. As a part of this path we have chosen, we are challenged by a massive wave of collective karma that needs to be met with courage and realistic thinking. Extravagant flights of fancy and wishful thinking are being crushed by the realities facing us. Although the OBSTACLES are daunting, the I Ching offers some useful guidance:
“In all worldly paths, OBSTACLES appear naturally throughout the course of time. In matters of power and politics, obstructions must be overcome as they arise if you are to continue on your way. The correct approach requires a certain amount of cunning, for you must either organize a following or align yourself with established leadership in order to prepare an assault. In business concerns, now is an excellent time to hire those who can help you. Or perhaps you should consider joining forces with another. Look for qualities of leadership in these people, qualities that can surmount OBSTACLES standing in the way of longterm objectives.
A more conscientious approach to social matters is required now. The ability to be in the right place at the right time has never been more useful. If you have the opportunity to join with others who inspire you or can help you with your endeavors, do so. Also, turn your attention inward in social situations and notes those OBSTACLES you create for yourself.
Many of your external OBSTACLES are, in fact, internally generated. Whether you create them in the process of acting out internal conflicts, or instinctively choose paths fraught with certain difficulties, they must nevertheless be overcome. These struggles will take place within the Self. Often referred to as inhibitions, such OBSTACLES will block your progress. Yet if you focus your awareness on them and persevere in constructive and positive thoughts, you will experience great good fortune as your developing character strengthens and prepares itself.” ~ Hexagram #39 OBSTACLES, The I Ching Workbook by R. The whole purpose of studying the I Ching in the first place is to help us recognize different life flows, learn how to use them and plan appropriately, so that we may cooperate with the planet and each other more effectively. Hopefully, our study will help us unite and make effective plans when we are challenged by the OBSTACLES we face.
Understanding the Larger Picture ~
There are a lot of hidden aspects about how we interact with ourselves, each other and the planet that are being processed within a patriarchal lens or mindset. The status quo is understandably the framework that our habits, perceptions and beliefs are built around. However, the New Paradigm that we’ve entered requires us to wake up about how unconscious patterns and self destructive habits are poisoning our ability to create Common Ground for the Common Good.
Since we’re no longer being governed by the Water based Element of the Piscean Age, a profusion of fast moving chi’ no longer has the buffer of Water to smooth, soothe, complicate or slow down events. We are now fully in the Age of Aquarius where the primary movement of life force comes through the Element of Air, which is much faster, lighter and quick to change.
In this paradigm shift, the Law of Karma or cause and effect is amplified and very quick to manifest. That means that the old “rules” about fighting – attack and defense – no longer work and are actually pulling us deeper into the chaos and confusion that we so wish to avoid.
By engaging in emotionally based behaviors such as casting spells, spewing curses, or organizing movements based on hatred for the other, we continue to manifest our own OBSTACLES that are increasingly more abrupt, irrational and “in our face”. This is called karmic backlash and will continue to be a profound source of the many OBSTACLES we’ll meet in the coming months.
Is it possible to find more productive ways to organize your own intentions and energy so that something more peaceful and prosperous can happen?
If you can manage to stay present and centered within yourself, you’ll have a much better chance of determining what’s actually best for you. By objectively observing what’s working and what’s not, you’ll build the courage to choose differently – to stand up for yourself so you can take genuinely productive actions without all the karmic backlash. The keys here are to develop self-care habits that strengthen good boundaries, balance and stability.
Meeting Obstacles with The Chinese Zodiac
2024 is the Year of the Yang Wood Dragon in the Chinese Zodiac.
Positive Qualities: Energetic. Confident. Ambitious. Intelligent. Generous.
Challenging Qualities: Unstable. Intolerant. Lack of persistence. Unrealistic.
The Dragon’s Feng Shui Mandala below can give you a sense of what the archetype of the Dragon is about and how it may influence you. If you’re interested, gently contemplate its center and relax. When you’re ready, ask yourself these questions and journal the answers that come:
“What is the most important thing I can focus my energy and effort on during this time in the Year of the Dragon?”
“What is the direction? Why is that important?
How can I utilize the energy of the Dragon to my best advantage?
Are there things I’m wasting time on? Something else I need to know?
Is there something important for me to do?
If so, can I tell what it is and how I would best go about doing it?”
Allow your intuition to come forward and bring guidance from your innermost Self.
Invite the Dragon archetype and his dynamic energy to advise you as you navigate change and the OBSTACLES in your own life.
A) Any new path can have distractions, dangers and opportunities that you cannot see clearly. However Dragon warns, “This is too important a time to get bogged down or fall into a hole. Gather your courage and ability to see straight. If you need extra help, call on my energy and confidence. I have plenty to spare.”
B) Transforming change that’s motivated by Joy and Freedom, rather than fear and dread is a wonderful and worthwhile pursuit. Especially when you’ve met with OBSTACLES that make it easy for old habits and conditioning to sneak back in and sabotage any progress that’s been made. Dragon wants to share some important insights about how to keep Joy in the forefront of your mind. Keep Going For Joy – Rather than Perfection.
C) The current OBSTACLES might ensnare you into taking actions that aren’t in your best long term interests. Keep yourself out of trouble’s way by using your extra-intuitive senses. Develop Precognition and Stay Out of Trouble.
D) Finally, there may be others who are threatening you or trying to erode your confidence. If someone is getting to you, get them out of your space immediately: Ground in the Truth and Your Power.
What kind of advice is recommended when we are challenged by OBSTACLES?
Once we ask for something we’ve never had before and take action on it, the Universe presents us with all the reasons why we haven’t been able to manifest it before. Past karma, both collective and individual is likely behind many of the OBSTACLES we’re now facing.

Transformation Games and Mind Exercises ~
1. Detach from Problems – Align Your Energy with Solutions.
Focusing on problems is an energy drain that saps our ability to find real solutions. This Mind Exercise will help you realize why our problems can’t be solved from the same mental position they were created from. Actualize positive help that’s available by aligning with the new energy.

3. Learn to Gracefully Let Go So You Can Move On.
You could be holding onto a deteriorating situation that’s filled with arguments, incompetence or downright refusals to participate in respectful ways. 4. Slow Down and Do the Right Thing For You.
You may be having difficulty interacting with situations and relationships around you because of false information, mixed messages or unresolved issues from your past. By taking the time to go within and find out what your thinking really is, you can understand what’s motivating you and take action to resolve the situation.

5. Adapt to the Changes That Are Necessary.
How well are you keeping up with change and are you letting it work for you, rather than against you? There very well could be something you need to change about how you’re dealing with your situation to keep yourself healthy. Kuan Yin’s Power Circle: Staying in the Flow of MODERATION
Tuning in and going with the flow of nature is a difficult thing for most human beings. We’ve been trained since childhood to use force and effort to accomplish our aims. In fact, in many circles, it’s considered a weakness to behave in any other way.
Since 2009, Kuan Yin has been co-creating with us to find another, more peaceful way for those who truly desire to create in alignment with Nature. The overall objective of the plan has been to experience the abundance and joy of surrendering to the flow of creativity or “happiness”.
The purpose of each Stage in the Power Circle of Life is to illuminate how you can be more in the flow in any situation and this year, Kuan Yin has partnered with the Major Arcana Card of The Hermit to help us move forward more effectively in the New Paradigm…
Power Circle – Following MODERATION
We are receiving help from Kuan Yin, the Goddess of Compassion who has guidance about staying grounded and following our inner guidance during times of great change and instability. She uses the I Ching, or Book of Change, an ancient Chinese text that follows and predicts movements and energy flow in the cosmos. Her advice, as always, is direct and to the point!
We are often under the influence of several I Ching flows. Kuan Yin refers to this as a “multiple highway pattern.” Whenever that happens, she recommends following the flow of Hexagram #15 MODERATION whenever possible.
Because there’s so much happening, we can have difficulty staying out of past troubles and keep moving forward on that Middle Road. Yet being fully present and following inner guidance are the keys to moving forward in a positive and beneficial way.
Before you get too far into this, go through a quick quiz to see if this Power Circle would be at all helpful for you. Simply gaze at the Intuitive Learning Circles and relax while you consider the accompanying questions or affirmations.
Consider what’s going on in your life right now. Ask yourself:
“What’s important about being able to manifest my current life goals? Are they worth it?”
“Does it feel like I’m following my Soul’s Light or heading off into the darkness?”
“Am I getting thrown off a lot? Am I working with the Earth or against her?”
How important is it that I stay in the I Ching Flow of MODERATION and follow the Middle Road?”
If it seems like you’re heading the wrong direction, ask yourself,
“Am I stuck in an energy, attitude or agenda from the old paradigm?”
“If so, how harmful is that to me?”
“What, if anything, do I still need to learn from this situation?”
“What do I need to do differently?”
Are you tapping into the most nourishing and beneficial energies available to you?
Do you need to go back and retrace your steps about how you got to where you are?
What can you do for yourself now to help yourself?
What stage of your journey did you get lost?
The Hermit knows that following the light of your Soul is the best way to regain your balance. He/she knows how to be guided by that inner imperative – your Soul’s light and purpose.
You may not be able to explain your dilemma yet, however, you do have a sense about whether it feels right or wrong. What do you need to see the light about?
In this sequence of Ten Stages, you are given Transformation Games and Mind Exercises that are meant to keep you centered and on track in this transition into 2025.
Remember that we’re all navigating many difficulties with a variety of CONFLICTS and RETURNING cycles of karma. Being centered and quick to notice when you’re off track are the smartest ways to handle the challenges we’re facing. Each Stage has a game that Kuan Yin recommends to help us during the transformative year of 2024.

The first step is to take a moment to look at the Circle above – Old Soul (your higher guidance) and think about what you’re hoping to create. Then, ask your heart:
“What Stage would be most useful for me to look at now?”
Or you could ask yourself:
“Which number between 1 and 10 represents the best self awareness process for me right now – or is the best place to start?”
Remember to take the very first number that comes to you, because that is your Inner Wisdom speaking or your intuition.
Once you have your number, scroll down the list and check out that process. You might be surprised at what you’ve chosen, because your Higher Self has access to information that you do not. Trust your first response and explore the exercise anyway.

1. Inspiration – Birthing a Heartfelt Desire
We’re beginning a new cycle with potential new Soul connections and wisdom to light the way. Wisdom points to returning to the fundamentals of what it means to be in the flow of MODERATION and following the middle road that’s guided by our Higher Selves. This Transformation Game is that foundation.
Establish a Strong Foundation for Finding and Staying in MODERATION.
2. Attention – Focusing the Desire
In order to focus on your true heart’s desire, you’re going to need to let go of all the clutter and complexities. Stop wasting time on distractions, dead ends and no win situations. Utilize the guidance of your Soul to see how simplifying your desire could really help you use your energy more wisely.
Simplify your intention by re-organizing around Love.
3. Intention – Voicing the Desire
In order to manifest important goals, especially ones that require change, your Essential Self needs to be fully present and willing to participate. This mind exercise takes you through a self discovery process where you can begin to understand why it seems so difficult to manifest your intention. Hint – it’s usually about a fear you picked up earlier in life. Now is your opportunity for deep self-healing.

4. Adaptation – Expanding an Awareness of the Possibilities
As you become aware of the many new options that are available to you, clear perception is what you need most to make sure you’re in the right position and heading in the direction of your highest good. Your unique path may be quite different than what you imagined or what other people expect of you. In addition, you don’t want to inadvertently head back into the very situations you’ve been wanting to get out of for so long. Blind spots are everywhere!
Make Sure You’re Seeing It Right by Clearing Up Your Blind Spots.
5. Perception – Activating the Imagination
Shed light on your imagination by listening to your special protector guidance. Don’t let wishful thinking or irrelevant agreements throw you off track. When learning to stay centered and travel the Middle Road – be sure you’ve got all the information you need and that you’re heading in the right direction. Stop and consider a new perspective from your Soul that will help you come up with a truly meaningful path.
Head in the Right Direction with Clear Perception.
6. Organization – Refine and Prioritize
How you’re used to organizing is overly complicated and needs to change in order for things to run more smoothly going into the New Paradigm. If you’re not adapting to recent changes in your field of study, conflict will be the inevitable result. Release your agreement with “more is better.” At this particular time, that is not so. More satisfying results come from simplifying your plan.
Change your plan and stop organizing around outside agendas.
7. Decision – Conscious Alignment of Energy
If you haven’t included your Soul in on the decisions you’re making, you’d be amazed at how much it could change your journey for the better. Input from your Soul is much more practical and concerned about your true well being than you probably think it is. Take some time to really sort through your thinking process and watch things get easier.
Decide to move forward under the guidance of your Soul.
8. Determination – Commitment to Follow Through
Once you’ve stated definitively what you want to create, the Universe comes in and says, “Really? That’s not what you’ve done before… are you sure?” And then it proceeds to show you all the reasons why you haven’t been able to do it before. It brings you the karma you need to clear and the behaviors that have gotten in the way. So, this is the stage when challenges and crazy things will show up and when they do, keep the faith. Hold to your convictions. Know that the Universe is also there to help you set them right.
9. Celebration – Experience of Success and Satisfaction
Do you know what success means to you? In today’s world of algorithms and social media, it’s easy to get thrown off by cultural expectations and agendas. At any point in your Power Circle you may need to check back with your original intention. Does anything need to change? Are you being true to yourself? Unclear or wishy washy intentions create unclear results. Detach from any entanglements that don’t really reflect your needs and values.
Move Beyond Groupthink and Herd Mentality to Find Your Own Success.
10. Completion – Acceptance of the Circle of Life
The end of a cycle is the very best time to rest. Your body knows a lot about what it needs and how well you’re nourishing yourself as you go through the natural process of completion. Re-assessing how you’ve been taking care of yourself and accepting where you’re at points the way to the next cycle of creation.

Negative Thoughts That Keep You Stuck
Many people are feeling stuck and unhappy because they’re trying to control or avoid negative thoughts they’re having about themselves and the world around them.
The object of this mind exercise is to clear basic misconceptions about our negative thoughts and how “real” we think they are.
You know the kind of thoughts we’re talking about – the ones that keep running through our minds again and again until we think we’re going to go batty! Or the kind that we just want to push away. The more we fight them or stuff them, the stronger they become until they start running our lives.
The truth is, thoughts are only concepts and have no power unless we give it to them. So, in the simplest terms, whenever we try to fight, control or sweep negative thoughts under the carpet, we are actually causing ourselves more suffering.
An example would be when you’re struggling with an event or something someone said and are spending a lot of time trying to figure out why you’re feeling so upset by it. Another example would be a repetitive need to prove that whatever happened was wrong.
The compulsion to repeat negative thoughts fosters a negative karmic loop
By rerunning the conflict over and over in our minds, we feed a karmic feedback loop and continue to suffer as if that memory were actually existing now in the present. Perhaps it helps us to feel justified in our position, even though simply letting it go would give our minds more room to focus on things we actually want to have happen, which would help us be happier.
By giving a memory or a thought that amount of power, we actually limit ourselves and stay locked into the past. Our decisions and projections become fixated and immovable. This preoccupation with how real we think our thoughts are actually causes us to miss opportunities to be present and happy. Life energy or chi’ gets diverted and used to feed negativity, rather than our true potential.
Focus your thoughts on what makes you happy ~
When you can change your focus, your mind has the room integrate any positive changes that have taken place and decide what you like about them and what you want to continue or discontinue. In essence, you are creating an opening for happiness. Of course, you will still need to take action on those new thoughts! However, when you continually think negative thoughts about what you’re unhappy or dissatisfied with, you’re mentally digging yourself into an even deeper karmic cycle of dissatisfaction and unhappiness.
If it feels like something like this is going on in your mind, you might like to try playing a simple Mind Exercise using the Intuitive Learning Circles to help you loosen the grip of painful, repetitive thoughts and let go on a DNA level so that you can start using your energy to fuel happiness rather than suffering.
Gently gaze at each Circle one at a time and consider the question or affirmation that goes with it. The process helps you to become aware of what kind of thinking is bothering you and make a different choice about it by relaxing and letting go.
Mind Body Integration
For best results, look at each symbol both crossed over the midline of the body and uncrossed so that the correction is more complete.
Step 1:
Give yourself permission to relax with #49 Old Sol for a moment and get some help from your Higher Self that will give you distance from a negative thought, experience or memory that’s taking up a lot of space in your mind.
Notice how easy it is to “rerun” this thought process over and over again and how it never really takes you anywhere positive or productive.
If something like that is happening, your mind has become blocked by a fixation. Luckily, Condor Medicine can help you release the feedback loop and take a gentler approach to what’s bothering you. Take several relaxing breaths while gazing softly at the Circle. Imagine all the lines softening or melting. Use deep relaxing breaths to help you.
“I imagine that the block is loosening and the thoughts in it are moving around differently.”
Once the thoughts start moving, you may notice a whole constellation of related thoughts and feelings about yourself or others in the background. Take several more minutes and let them start moving differently too.
Continue breathing and softening until the negative energy has stopped.
Since your chakras are wheels of light that facilitate the inward and outward movement of energy that rides on vibration, they are literally part of how our bodies “breathe.” Every organ, gland or joint has a constellation of chakras that brings the vibration of life into that area and releases toxins. That includes toxic thoughts that might be hanging out in your aura or the environment around you. When the motion of a chakra is stuck or withheld, you’ll know because your breathing will stop or become shallow.
To remedy this, meditate on this Soul Prayer Chart for Oxygen. Breathe deeply and imagine that the space around you is actually relaxing and softening.
“I allow all affected chakras to resonate once again with the breath of life.”
You are now in a position to be more objective as you continue to Step 2 of the exercise.
Step 2:
Use these affirmations with the Circles below to imagine that you can change the energy in your mind by allowing open and positive energy to fill that “head space.”

Use this symbol for Divine Protection to close down old and unhealthy channels of energy that have been carrying negative thoughts to you.
“I close down old energy channels that are still open to the chaos and negativity of the old paradigm.”
Stay with it until you feel centered and protected with beneficial energy flowing through you.
Once you’ve got that, you’re ready to access life affirming channels of communication that come to us through the Element of Air. To help you, visualize all the lines coming together into the center wheel of this symbol.
Do that both crossed and uncrossed until it feels complete.
Now it’ll be easier to raise your vibration with the Medicine of Rainforest Tree:

Then do the same for the space around you. You don’t have to keep putting up with negative thoughts running around in your space and cramping your style! After all they’re just thoughts and don’t “belong” to anyone.
Imagine those old thoughts are like leaves that you’ve been holding onto. See yourself letting them go now while a warm breeze blows them up and away. Watch them disappear into the Light.
Step 3:
As long as we agree with negative and repetitive thoughts, we can’t be open to new visions of who we have the potential to be. See if Raccoon Medicine and these affirmations will help you to free up your mind:
“I release any agreement to buy into or maintain unhappy thoughts.”
“I release agreements that thoughts define who I am or what I can do.”
“I let go of harmful agreements with anyone involved with these thoughts.”
“I let go of any agreements I have to be controlled by others.”
“My new agreements are to live in the present and love who I truly am, etc.”
“I reclaim my power and free will. I protect myself.”
“I look for, find and utilize productive, workable solutions that nourish me.”

Step 4:
The next few symbols are from “Divine Nature Activated” and will provide us with epigenetic healing down to our DNA. The key is to relax as much as possible while looking at each symbol. It can help to imagine an actual DNA strand relaxing, healing and filling up with light – much like this picture.
“I ask the Divine to assist my consciousness in connecting with Hope.”
“I’m ready and willing to sort through what’s in my highest good.”
“I see myself self as the Divine sees me without these negative thoughts.”
“I let go of any compulsive need to be right or to keep the conflict going in my own mind.”
“I welcome thoughts that offer positive solutions.”
“I ask the Divine to lead me away from conflict, towards Common Ground.”
“I am a Divine Child of the Universe.
I am beautiful, innocent and trust that I am fully supported.”
Check to see if there are any other symbols needed from Divine Nature Activated to make appropriate corrections.
Ask for numbers between 1 – 73.
Finish with this Soul Star Detachment Key to remove any especially sticky energies. Like a healing balm, imagine that a loving coat of peace and comfort is pouring down over you – soothing your body and mind.

Step 6:
Connect and empower your ability to follow through by relaxing into this Soul Prayer Chart for Divine Connection.
“I am empowered to manifest a positive frame of mind.
I exist and what I say and do matters.”
“I connect with the power of joy and gratitude that comes from my heart.”
Step 7:
Notice what’s caught your attention about this exercise. It may be initially confusing. All the wheels in your mind could be going every which way! Take a minute or two to step back and objectively contemplate your situation. Let Llama’s Circle help you synchronize those wheels or pull the ones that don’t belong out completely. A question may come to you and if it does, go ahead and ask your question while looking at the Circle, like:
“What’s going on here? What kind of decisions have I been making?”
“What have I decided about myself?”
“Have I decided that things only work in one particular way?”
“What have I been putting out and is that really what I want to get back?”
“I let go of lies and falsehood. I stop trying to figure them out.”
“I let them go and make room for more positive, productive thoughts.”
“My thoughts and decisions begin to work for me and make sense.”
“They fit with each other and my life becomes happier.”
Step 8.
Imagine that all the negative behaviors are like a huge hole in the ground that you’ve been getting lost in. Fly Medicine will help you deconstruct them.
“I deconstruct the hole that I habitually fall into. I stop holding space for negative habits and karma that are keeping me stuck.”
“I fill in the leftover void with positive life force and energy.”
Imagine that all the negativity in your mind is lifting up into the sky like a host of dark clouds and disappearing into the Light.
Continue looking at this symbol for dissolving destructive blueprints until all clouds are completely gone.
“I dissolve all negative thoughts like a black cloud that dissipates into the Sun.”
Once you’ve done that, make sure you’ve gotten all the negative attachments. Use the symbol to collapse any underground drains or channels like old sewage pipes:
“I collapse any other negativity or attachments that might be poisoning me or draining my energy.”
Close down any harmful doors or pathways that could lead you back to those negative places or thoughts with Piranha Medicine.

You’ve just let go of an old mental pattern that’s been sabotaging your happiness and prosperity for a long time.
