How To Trust Your Gut Instinct

This Mind Exercise is about how to trust your gut instinct. Let’s start with the definition of instinct* that I like to use:

Instinct is primal and body centered. Its purpose is self-preservation. Instinct tells us that we’re tired, hungry, sad or afraid through a full body response – a feeling, not just a thought.

For many of us, the natural instinct for joy may been suppressed, mistuned or perverted by unnatural expectations and cultural conditioning.

Whenever instinct is out of balance, it’s easy to get lost. There is a lack of courage and everything is about avoidance – avoiding getting caught, procrastination and avoiding responsibility. In extremes, this gives rise to panic, scapegoating and disassociation.

When instinct goes out of balance it’s usually about something you fear. Or you could be disoriented by confusing changes in your external world.” ~ Intuitive Learning in the New Paradigm by Rheanni Lightwater

The purpose of these Mind Exercises is to help us all learn to think and experience ourselves differently. The hope is to facilitate an upgrade in how we can organize our minds, energies and bodies in a way that can meet the very real challenges that are facing us.

How to Trust Your Instincts in the New Paradigm

The foundation of the New Paradigm is about creating common ground for the common good, based on equality, co-operation, and balanced prosperity. Knowing how to access, utilize and trust your instinct is a very big part of what needs to happen.

To have your own experience with how to trust your gut instinct, choose a situation that you know would be joyful for you, yet have some resistance towards.

What would I really like to experience?

Once you have that situation, follow the directions for this simple sequence of Intuitive Learning Circles. They’ve been put together to help you relax, contemplate your natural instincts and integrate that information to the best of your ability at this time.

How to Trust Your Instincts

It’s easy to get confused by what other people want or social conditioning about what’s acceptable. Follow the steps to make sure that you’re reading your energy and not someone else’s!

Step One: Return to the clarity of your true Essence by getting in touch with your unique Soul vibration or color. The way you find your own color is to remember a time when you successfully manifested something that you really wanted. Notice if a particular color or felt sense comes to mind. Relax into this Soul Prayer Chart with these affirmations and see if you can make that same color and vibration stronger and more vibrant. If so, that is your Soul Color!

“I relax into myself and recognize my unique color vibration.”

I know who I am. I distinguish my energy from the energy of others.”

“I use my Soul Color to nourish and strengthen my natural healing abilities.”

It will help to imagine you can bring all the energy into focus on the center, open space of each Intuitive Learning Circle.

Step Two: You feel instinct in your solar plexus area, where your 3rd chakra is located. Use this Reiki Chakra Key to let go of any tension in that area. Breathe into it and move around in any way that feels good. Let the energy open and get balanced there.

“I let go of the tension in my solar plexus.”

How to Trust Your Gut instinctStep Three: Without being firmly positioned in the “home base” of your solar plexus, it’s difficult to fully access the qualities you need to trust yourself and be courageous about what you want.

Use these positive affirmations to help you:

“I am grounded and connected in my solar plexus.”

“I am upright and facing forward.”

“I hold space in my gut for my own Essence and allow others to hold space for theirs. My boundaries are intact.”

Mind Body Integration

Mind Body Integration For best results, look at each symbol both crossed over the midline of the body and uncrossed so that the correction is more complete.

Feel free to move at anytime in any way to help you embody your experience!

Step Four: Now it’s time to “reorient” your conscious awareness inside that area, which will center you so that you don’t get confused or dyslexic. This affirmation works well:

“I am inside of me. Everything else is outside of me.”

This is especially helpful for those who 1) are “up in their head,” 2) often feel dissociated, or 3) have the twisties, a phenomenon where a person loses their sense of where their body is in space.

Step Five: The Essential Self is in charge of how you’re using your personal energy or “mana.” Confirm that you’re creating reciprocity by including yourself in the equation.  A) Use the Circle to gather up your energy in your solar plexus area.

B) Place your objective in the center of the Circle like a bull’s eye.

“I focus my attention and intention on actualizing my objective.”

C) Send your energy directly to it.

D) Allow the energy of your intention to come back to you and keep that going for several cycles.

“I am invested in my own wellbeing.”
If you are unable to do that, can you tell why?
Is the timing incorrect?
Is there another important reason?

Step Six: Imagine your Soul can surround you with a ring of fiery courage and determination.

“I am able to reconnect with my courage and determination.”

“I actively call on them to strengthen and support me.”

“I choose to use energies that will strengthen and support me.”

Step Seven: Now take a few moments to connect and “fine-tune” your senses so that you can listen to your own Soul more clearly, rather than interference from the outside world. You can adjust them now, like the volume on a radio dial:

“I connect and rebalance my senses.
Not too high and not too low –
just right!”

Once you feel that, what does your Soul tell you to do about your situation? Does your body agree? What do you need to do to follow through? The answer will be visceral.

Step Eight: Guidance that comes from balanced instinct is direct and action oriented. Its purpose is for you to be okay, so if you’re getting too elevated or emotional, use this next Circle to help you pull yourself back in. Be patient and listen to what your body is communicating to you.

What do you need to do?

Once you get an action statement that feels right, Congratulations! You might want to make a note of it. The critical mind often likes to override the gut instinct with a lot of second-guessing, procrastination and feelings of overwhelm.

Step Nine: Make sure you don’t wander back into any old harmful patterns or mindsets that you just cleared.

“All holes are sealed and healed.”
“I follow the direction of my Soul’s protection.”

How to Trust Your Gut InstinctRemember that when instinct is out of balance, it’s easy to get lost. There is a lack of courage and everything is about avoidance – avoiding getting caught, procrastination and avoiding responsibility.
