Right Livelihood 13
Living in Harmony with your True Nature
Success Versus the Expectations of Society
This class uses circles from the workbooks “Soul Prayer Charts” and “Gifts from the Rainforest” to clear your mind and thinking.
In this class, we are going to explore the importance of input in achieving your goals, using the computer programming example of “garbage in - garbage out”. The idea is that if you input corrupted data into your computer, the information you get back will also be corrupt and inaccurate. Our Essential Selves are like computers in that we can’t keep putting messages of “failure” in and expect to get “success” out. If you want to be in harmony with any aspect of your life, be it health, relationships, children or livelihood, you will want input that comes from your source and will help you create success in that area or “harmony in - harmony out”. That is the whole premise of feng shui. A large part of creating the input that will help you to be more harmonious is to be clear about what success means to you and being able to state it, without interference from the critical ego.
Realize that the ego gets most of its power from the expectations of society. For instance, society says that one is successful if they have a lot of money or a lot of stuff. Then, in order to measure success, the ego uses a comparison based upon what others have and what society perpetuates through the media and social conditioning. So those who don’t have very much are “failures”, and those that have quite a bit are “successes”. Not only do these definitions disconnect us from our source, they also alienate us from other people and cause us to make decisions that are often not in our best interests.
The societal input for a material success is so pervasive that it’s easy to understand why people are so automatic in their belief that being successful means acquiring more money, more power, a bigger house, more stuff, etc. This kind of fear-based input has brainwashed us into following the paths that society says will help us to acquire things and gain outside approval, rather than tuning in to our source and making thoughtful decisions about how we can live happier lives.
Isn’t it interesting though that those who have enough, even those with a lot, often think of themselves as failures because they are caught in a prison of inner turmoil where their ego continues to compare them with others who have more and or those who have less? Ironically, their innermost opinions about themselves revolve around one thought: “I’m not good enough.” So how can we counteract this societal brainwashing and create the proper input for “I am good enough?” If you want to find out, let’s go through a few graphs that will help us to remove corrupt data from our understanding of success.
Remember that when you are viewing the graphs
Read the affirmations and then look at the indicated graphs one at a time with a soft gaze for approximately one minute. A shorter or longer time may be necessary. The graph is providing structural support for the contents of the intention, affirmation or question that accompanies it. Just breathe deeply and relax. Allow yourself to be open and receiving. You may notice subtle energies, memories or emotions running through you or the graphs may begin to move, pulsate or even change colors. This is all part of the experience. Just keep breathing; relax into your body and stay objective - just as you would in a state of meditation. You are encouraged to journal on insights or new ideas that may come to you during the exercise.
Step One:
Use this graph to recall the biggest success you’ve have in your life. Write it down.
What was the choice that you made in that situation that made the difference for you?
What do you want to have happen now?

![]()
Step Two: Who or what are you still fighting with?
Are you willing to surrender to the wisdom and harmony that comes from your Soul?

![]()
Step Three: What do you believe will happen if things don’t turn out the way you want them to?
Is your answer fear-based or harmony based?
Call a truce between your critical ego and your True Nature.

Step Four: Take a few minutes to look at a sequence of circles out of Gifts From the Rainforest and Soul Prayer Charts that will help you to find resolution within yourself.
Note - G indicates Gifts From the Rainforest and S indicates Soul Prayer Charts.

G #49 Old Sol
Bring in your higher self and give it permission to help you.
G #8 Piranha
To reveal some corrupt data, ask yourself these questions:
Are you in any real danger? If so, what is it? Ask these questions as well:
- Are you expecting too much of yourself? Not enough?
- Are you spending too much time with others who don’t have the same goals you do?
- Are you allowing someone to harm you?
- Are you taking the proper steps to being at peace with yourself?
- Are you on a path that will get you where you want to go?
G #9 Lizard
Let go of the idea that you have to do things the way other people do.
- Release your agreement with the societal house of “failure” and disconnect yourself from it.
- Release your agreement with society’s house of “success” and disconnect.
- Finally, release your agreement with “I’m not good enough,” step out of your prison of worthlessness and throw it away.
G #33 Llama
Make a decision that all aspects of yourself work in full co-operation with your own true nature to create harmony.
“I choose harmony.”
G #27 Hummingbird
Release any agreement you have to travel down a path that isn’t in harmony with your true nature.
Take several deep breaths and say to yourself:
“I enjoy being the master of my own destiny.”
G #17 Jaguar
Imagine there is a doorway that your ego built that leads you into discouragement. Shut that door and use this circle to seal it shut.
Find another doorway to frustration and shut it. Do the same with any of these doorways that have a charge for you: Self-criticism, envy, jealousy, sarcasm, impatience, disdain, despair, unrealistic expectations, self-doubt, cruelty, violence, famine, poverty, self-abuse, neglect, waste, dishonesty, stinginess, harshness, bitterness, ingratitude, vengeance, blame, shame, apathy, vanity, conflict, guilt, disappointment, disloyalty, prejudice, disrespect, suspicion, paranoia and ignorance.
G #37 Seed
Visualize your own personal garden and plant the seed of co-operation in it.
What are some other seeds that would be helpful to you?
Ask your Higher Self to plant them in the appropriate place. Be sure that they all have the proper amount of clean water, fresh dirt and sunlight.
G #19 Fly
Have your Soul give you a symbol that represents happiness to you. Focus your energy and attention on it and then build a pathway that leads to it. Do the same process for success. Not create a pathway for success that comes together with your pathway to happiness. This affirmation may help:
“My success and happiness are one.”
G #42 Rainforest Tree
Raise your vibration by closing the door on resentment and petty disagreements you may have with the way others conduct their business.
Now relax for a bit and breathe deeply with this affirmation:
“I am good enough.”
G #24 Electric Eel
Now take some time to get grounded by using this circle and affirming;
“I am grounded in my truth.”
Step Five: Now, as you look at this final graph, Write down in two sentences or less -
What does success mean to you?
What activities and changes in your environment will help you to live in greater harmony?

Now take a break, enjoy yourself and allow the ideas for achieving your success to flow in naturally.
Congratulations! It isn’t ‘how much do I have?’, it’s ‘how conscious am I of what I have.’
