Healing the Emotional and Spiritual Components of Dyslexia

Sometimes when we are experiencing a lot of stress, our mind’s become confused by a dysfunction that is called “switching”. Dyslexia is a form of switching, Essentially what happens for a person experiencing dyslexia is a confusion around directions and finding correct information.

The common example might be when you are reading or writing. Perhaps you “switch” b’s for d’s, which would indicate right/left switching. Likewise, you might confuse your b’s for p’s, which would indicate that you are experiencing up/down switching. When this condition persists, your stress is compounded because you are unable to find the correct information in your brain and integrate it properly into your behavior.

The same issue might spread into your general sense of direction. Perhaps you are given directions to turn left at the stoplight on the way to your friend’s home and you turn right instead. This does not mean that you are stupid or incompetent, it means that you have a switching problem that can be corrected. Unfortunately, many people add even more stress by berating themselves and reinforcing the idea that they are incompetent.

Kuan Yin wants to remind us that this dyslexia can also be spiritual in nature.

Perhaps we keep asking for help from our spiritual guides and it doesn’t come. Another possibility is not understanding spiritual instructions properly. We keep looking for the answers and they don’t come. Why would this be? Possibly because we have a switching problem and we aren’t looking in the place where the answer truly lies. Maybe we are looking for the answers outside of us when the answers are actually within us.

Let’s use her Intuitive Learning Meditation using “Gifts from the Rainforest” and “Soul Prayer Charts” to help you correct the switching and relieve your stress.

I will list the name and number of the Intuitive Learning Circle and then give directions on how to use them. G means that the healing circle can be found in Gifts from the Rainforest and SC means that the circle comes from Soul Prayer Charts.

G #1 Animal Spirits

The first thing is to determine what is causing your stress. Look that this symbol and take a few deep breaths.

Once you are relaxed, ask yourself this question:

“What am I doing or thinking that is causing me stress?”

Take the first answer that comes to you, even if it doesn’t make sense at first.

SC # 9 Water

Now that you know what is stressing you out, look at this Soul Chart and ask yourself:

“Am I letting my emotions run out of control in this situation? And, if so, why?”

Once you have your answer, take a few minutes to look at this chart and calm down.

G #28 Monkey

Now it’s time to stop being so hard on yourself. Use this affirmation with the circle:

“I release my negative self-talk.”

“I release the limitations I put on myself and those that others have put upon me.”

SC #11 Earth

Imagine a landscape where there are lots of signposts pointing in multiple directions. Use this chart to clear away every signposts until the landscape is completely clear.

SC # 17 Divine Grace

Many times we feel a lot of stress because we believe that we have to do it all by ourselves and we become overwhelmed. Use this Soul Chart to ask for help from your Higher Self and other divine beings:

“I request help, hope and healing from Divine Grace.”


SC #10 Air

It’s time to clear the air a bit. Use this chart together with the following affirmation:

“I am confident in the abilities and resources that come from my Soul.”


G # 47 Starlight

Now it’s time to deal with the directional switching. Look at the center, blank space in this circle while you affirm to yourself:

“I know my right from my left.”

“I know what is above me and what is below me.”

“I know what is inside of me and what is outside of me.”

“I know that forward is in front of me and that backward is behind me.”


G #24 Electric Eel

Finish the meditation by placing both your feet firmly on the ground. Look at the center area of this circle while you repeat this affirmation:

“I am grounded in the truth. I release all obstacles to the truth.”

Congratulations! You are helping yourself to relieve stress in your life by abandoning negative brain patterns and re-aligning with the truth. It would be an excellent time to take a walk, stretch, do your yoga, tai chi or other integrative movements.
